The Alpha Lab Pro is a complete electrode recording system nicely integrated into a single workstation that includes the following modules:

Micro Positioner
The motors are coupled to electrode microdriving terminal (MT) via flexible shafts. This allows great flexibility and endless design options. Furthermore, the use of flexible shafts to connect the motors insures electrode stability and protects the animal from injury caused by small head movements.


Signal Conditioning
Flexible high pass and low pass filters - the high pass filter can be set to any of 65 different values from DC to 1KHz. The low pass filter can be set to any of 57 values from 100Hz to 10KHz.Flexible gain selection - each channel can be amplified at a different gain. With the Alpha Omega Head Stage Pre-amplifiers, this gain can range from x1 to 63,750. Many different gain values are possible within this range. Audio mixer control – software control for selecting individual or multiple channels.Stimulus control – software controls the relays on the Head Stage to switch easily between recording and stimulation.
Data Acquisition and Logging
4 different data acquisition modes – continuous mode, level mode, external trigger mode and window discriminator mode.Variety of logging options – external trigger control, file size control, file time control and manual control.Sampling rate – the user can control the sampling rate for each input individually.
Online Sorting
Template matching algorithm – up to 3 templates and one level window for each channel. The algorithm runs continuously (sample by sample) for each template with the option of online modification.Other Features - Double match detection, Firing Rates continuous display, undetected spikes display, adaptive template mode, and additional Window Discrimination option (two per template).Statistical Tools - Peri Stimulus Histogram, Raster display, ISI Histogram and Firing Rate Tachogram for every channel and template.
Offline Sorting
Principal Components Analysis algorithm - Represents spikes in a two dimensional space, which also conserves a large part of the information about the shape of the original signal. It also provides different statistical tools to verify the accuracy of the sorting.
Offline Analysis
Neurophysiological data analysis software package (NeuroExplorer ) - A complete set of spike train analysis options, such as standard histogram and rasters, autocorrelograms, crosscorrelograms, burst analysis, joint PSTH, spectral densities, and various activity displays.
