The Alpha Omega Alpha Drive is an accurate electrodes navigation system for neurosurgery. The Microdrive has three operational modes: Computer control mode, Manual mode and Computer control/ Manual mode. The system is capable to operate with 1- 5 electrodes simultaneously and control their for precise insertion within the brain during functional Neurosurgery.
|
| |
The Microdrive can operate as stand-alone independent system and/or as a part of Microelectrode Recording System. The MicroDrive is designed to be compatible to all the existing Microelectrode Recording Systems. The MicroDrive system was originally designed as a subsystem of the Alpha Omega Microelectrode Recording system – Microguide. The MicroDrive system is designed so it can be mounted to any stereo tactic frame.
|
|
The Alpha Drive includes connection adaptations to different types of depth electrodes such as: microelectrodes, semi- microelectrodes, macro electrodes, deep brain stimulation electrodes, chronic stimulation electrodes and lesion electrodes.
|
| The vertical movement; in the Z plane, could be controlled in one of three optional operational modes: |
Manual mode.
2) Computer controlled mode
3) Manual / Computer controlled mode.
In the Manual mode the accuracy of the vertical movement is in the range of tenths of mm, whereas in the computer-controlled mode it is in the range of microns.
|
| Adaptations and Compatibility |
The Alpha Drive is mounted on a stereo tactic frame and is designed to fit any existing frame. In addition or on any other mechanical adaptation for targeting on a specific site in the brain.
|
| System Components: |
The Alpha Drive system has four main components:
1) Alpha Drive unit
2) Computer (medical grade PC)
3) Interface unit- Control card and cable
4) Remote control – Doctor control pad
