FENS Science of Translation 2018
Cologne, Germany
24 and 25 May 2018
Federation of European Neuroscience Societies - Science of Translation: Optimizing Animal Models for Neuropsychiatry
Translational research is an effective application of new knowledge, mechanisms, and techniques generated by advances in basic science research into new approaches for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. It ties all scientists and specialties together- biologists, clinicians, from physiology to big data, granting a fantastic opportunity to share diverse views, solutions, and expectations for the future. Using multidisciplinary approaches when designing preclinical projects optimizes their translation from bench to bedside. In order to be accurate, strong, reliable and adequately-characterized animal models are needed to pioneer new therapeutic strategies that can, in turn, be implemented in the clinic. This is of utmost importance in the field of neuropsychiatric disorders
